Summer Break, Not a Momentum Break: 5 Ways to Keep Moving While You Recharge
Summer is here, and we’re all for the Friday patios, long weekends, and out-of-office replies. But here’s the thing—your business doesn’t need to stall just because you’re ready for a break.
Here’s how to hit pause without losing progress:
1. Let Clients Know Early
Not the day before. Not after you’ve already left. Give your clients a heads-up well in advance, especially if you're onboarding someone or in the middle of a project. Let them know your game plan, what to expect, and how things will keep moving while you’re away.
Trust us—they’ll appreciate the transparency and probably be a little jealous of your time away!
2. Your Team Deserves a Break Too
Summer can get messy with overlapping vacations. Get ahead of it: host a team meeting, map out who’s off and when, and assign clear backups.
Pro tip: motivate great coverage by offering a little bonus time off or a simple thank-you gift. People notice when their effort is appreciated, especially when they’re stepping up to cover two roles.
3. If You’re a Solo or Small Team—Handoff to Someone Reliable
If you’re a solopreneur, agency owner, or small team, don’t try to manage everything from a beach chair. Hand off the client check-ins, prospect replies, marketing projects and “just keeping things warm” to someone you trust.
We specialize in this—keeping things running smoothly as your fractional account manager or fractional marketing director, so you come back to momentum (and maybe a few new leads in the inbox).
4. Do the Thing You’ve Been Avoiding
You know that project you keep pushing down the to-do list? The brand guidelines, the onboarding doc, the social media calendar, the overdue blog? Summer is the perfect time to bring in a fractional resource team like us and get it done.
You get time off and progress made, without doing it all yourself.
5. Unpopular Opinion: Work on the Plane
Hear us out. Use your departure flight to close up loose ends and give final direction. You've got 4–6 hours of (mostly) uninterrupted time—put it to work. You'll feel productive, clear-headed, and way more relaxed on arrival.
Then, use your return flight to check in and get caught up—so you can actually take a real rest day when you’re home or ease back in with a calm, half-day reset.
